Emergency Hornet Removal in Colorado

Total pricing depends on nest accessibility, colony maturity, species aggressiveness, and required safety rigging. Small accessible ground nests or low eaves involve routine removal fees, whereas thirty-foot aerial tree nests or deep wall cutouts require ladder work and specialized containment. Most standard residential policies treat stinging insect infestations as preventable home maintenance, generally excluding coverage for nest cutouts or cosmetic drywall repairs. However, unexpected water leaks caused by hornets gnawing through plumbing pipe insulation or chewing electrical wiring might qualify for specific claims. Documenting the infestation thoroughly with photographs before the extermination process begins assists with potential adjuster discussions.

Sub-freezing temperatures eventually kill off the sterile worker caste and the old founding queen, but heated home attics insulate colonies longer into the season. Only freshly mated queens survive winter by hibernating under tree bark or inside exterior wall insulation. Leaving an untreated nest inside structural voids risks foul odors from decomposing larvae and attracts scavenger beetles throughout winter.

Technicians first use thermal imaging cameras and acoustic listening sensors to pinpoint the exact perimeter of the comb behind your wall. Whenever possible, insecticidal micro-dust is injected through tiny exterior weep holes or drill access points without destroying finish materials. Invasive drywall cutouts remain a last resort reserved for massive secondary paper nests threatening structural drywall integrity.

Bald-faced hornets construct these massive, enclosed carton structures using chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva. Despite their name, they are aggressive aerial yellowjackets capable of stinging repeatedly without losing their barbs. Populations peak in late summer and early autumn throughout Colorado, often housing up to seven hundred aggressive guards that vigorously attack anything encroaching within ten feet.
